The October IWLA IPSC Match was one of the largest late season matches we have
held in York. A large group of standard and a good group of open
shooters ran through the 4 stage match. A dozen or so rifle shooters
also shot the rifle side match.
On stage one, Revolver neutral, competitors retrieved their guns from a table and proceeded to a barricade where they engaged 4 IPSC targets. From there the moved to a forward box to engage 3 more targets. Times sank below the 8 second mark by top competitors as Phil Strader was top limited and Adam Benson was top open, both under 8 seconds on the stage.
Our house stage, Mover Madness was a 24 round field course through a 3 door corridor. Three movers were engaged or avoided if no shoot as a total of 12 IPSC targets were engaged. Timing the swingers was tough as competitors moved through the doors and shot through varied ports. Pete Wilber was high standard with a 5.3 hit factor and Adam Benson led open with another 5.3 hit factor.
2 Step Shuffle was an 18 round course with 3 arrays of 3 targets engaged through ports and around a wall. Times were again quick as shooters found the proper rhythm to hoze the close targets. Phil Strader nearly topped the 10 hit factor for a standard win and Adam Benson was at 9.9 as well to win open on 2 step shuffle.
Classifier Mini-Mart was our October 6 shot reload 6 shot stage. This USPSA course required a reload and was Virginia Count. As with the other October courses, this stage was standard neutral with blazing time shot with both guns. Tony Chiavacci won standards with a 12.8 hit factor and Adam Benson won open with a 9.8 hit factor.
There was little question to the open match winner as Adam Benson won all 4 stages on route to a match win. Phil Strader won 2 stages on the way to a standard win. Other winners were 1B - Don Russel, 1C - Lorie Benson, 1U - Cliff Seewagon, 1AL - John Hutchenson, 1BL - Tony Chiavacci, 1CL - Dwight Dorsey, 1DL - Dennis Vair Jr., 1UL - Jim Kreager, 1Lady Jeanie Grant. Congratulations to all match and class winners.
The November IWLA IPSC match will be held on Saturday November 13th, weather permitting. Squad times will be 10:00 and 12:30. Call Greg (717)428-2564 not sooner than 1 week before the match. We will be having a shotgun side match, so you'll need a box of shotshells.
Once again we need to remind competitors to call
in if they expect to have a slot at the York IWLA matches. We do not
feel that it if fair to other competitors to push squad numbers up - slowing
squad movement and delaying afternoon shooting. Future competitors
who show-up for matches without pre-registering will be asked to wait until the
afternoon squad time to shoot. Call in and avoid creating a problem
for all of us.
