Fourty-seven competitors, some of who endured a heavy downpour, shot the May
IWLA IPSC Match. Five diverse stages tested competitors practical shooting
skills. Back and forth races were seen in both Open and Limited, one
resulting in a close finish the other a bit more spread out.

Stage one was time to let it all hang out. Targets opened up on this 18
round stage, as you moved across the range and if you didn’t move from the
beep until the last shot you wasted time. Two poppers were thrown in the
center of the pit to keep the hozers honest. Terry Zortman topped the Open
field with a 7.13 second run, while Mike Milan led limited shooters with one
of two sub 10 second runs.

Table Games, the second stage of the match, required the speed of the
previous stage without the movement. Two steel, two full IPSC targets and
two close semi-tight squeeze targets made up the 10 round speed shoot.
Several Open shooters broke the 4 second mark, but Adam Benson shot clean
as he won the stage. Art Mcginnis nearly broke that barrier with the
limited gun as he was on top of limited shooters.

Stage three, Pick -a - Port squeezed your vision and your posture at the two
port positions. One slim port limited vision of the 4 poppers and a turner.
The other port required shooters to contort themselves into a ball to shoot
4 paper targets. Terry Zortman won his second stage of the day with a 6.1
hit factor. Mike Milan also won his second stage with a 5.3 hit factor.

Anyone Home was our opened up house stage of the match. An atypical stage
layout set the stage for a confusing time for some competitors. 11 IPSC
targets, three poppers and a swinger were engaged through ports, doors and
around walls. Adam Benson used great hit to top his second stage, while
Mike Milan used speed to top his third.

Stage five of the May match was classifier, Fast’N Furious. This barricade
stage had 4 poppers and 4 paper targets. A manditory reload was required
when changing sides. Terry Zortman won the classifier with a 9.8 hit factor
and Art McGinnis won limited on this stage with a 6.55 hit factor.

Stage wins were split 3 to 2 in each Open and Limited with the winner of the
most stages the match winner in each case. Terry Zortman was High Over All
with 399 match points. Mike Milan was High Limited with 390 match points.
Other May winners were, 1A - Adam Benson, 1B - Jim Butler, 1C - Freddie
Baker, 1D - Dennis Viar, 1U - Ron Abey, 1AL - Art McGinnis, 1BL - Jim Kurtz,
1CL - Dan Blevind, 1DL - Karl Boldt, 1UL - Dwight Dorsey, 1L - Lorie Benson,
1LL - Hilda Solito, 1CC - Rick Herman.

We again had some difficulty with competitors not verifiying their division -
Open or Standard on the Alpha list. It is your responsibility to check and
verify your listing. Please take time to ensure proper information.
